Lee Mu-geun et al.: Practical training methodology

This fifth revised edition has been published to enhance the effectiveness of instruction by introducing new teaching and learning methods and media. The key revisions for each chapter are summarized as follows: In Chapter 1, "The Significance of Practical Training," and Unit 1, "Overview of Practical Training," the definition of industrial education institutions has been supplemented in accordance with the amendment of the Act on the Promotion of Industrial Education and Industry-Academic-Research Cooperation. In Chapters 6, "Selection and Organization of Practical Assignments," and 7, "Organization and Management of Practical Training Sites," efforts have been made to accurately describe technical terms in the appropriate places. Additionally, the sentences have been written to be more detailed yet accessible. In Chapter 8, "Teaching and Learning Methods," Blended Learning and Flipped Learning have been added to Unit 4, "Inquiry-Based Instruction." In Chapter 9, "Selection of Instructional Media," the current content of Unit 5, "Interactive Media," has been completely removed, and Digital Media, Smart Learning, and Social Media have been newly established as sub-units and described. In Chapter 11, ‘Guidance on Field Practice,’ amendments to relevant laws and regulations concerning field practice have been reflected in the content of the related sections. In particular, the section regarding the “scope of institutions for completing field practice” pursuant to the Enforcement Decree of the Vocational Education and Training Promotion Act has been completely replaced. Along with content regarding the organization and operation of field practice in specialized high schools included in the 2015 curriculum, the “Field Practice Manual for Specialized High Schools” (Ministry of Education, 2013) and the “Measures for the Stable Establishment of Learning-Centered Field Practice” (Ministry of Education, 2018) have been introduced. The significance and purpose of field practice as presented in the said manual have been added to the content of the relevant sections, and the sections regarding field practice evaluation forms and implementation procedures have also been revised.
