Lee Jong-guk: Korean and Western Architecture

In the course of modernization in our country, not only are traditional architecture and Western architecture being mixed up, losing their identity, but even more serious is the uncertainty of future prospects. This is the result of the lack of respect and effort by Korean architecture, which has been rapidly improving efficiency in modernization, and which focuses on tradition and meaning, to each other. It is the product of that age and mind. So we should not be limited to the ideograph or the economic and technical aspects of understanding architecture. So if we look at architecture in a general, comprehensive way and understand it and understand its value and meaning, then it will be a cultural and pleasant place that will mark our times and determine our living conditions. So this work has a purpose in ultimately understanding and insight into the world together with our architecture through comparison and insights into both the two architecture worlds, far from the general view of Korean and Western architecture as merely a binary structure. This approach will provide a more accurate diagnosis of our present building environment and an important opportunity to offer alternative options for the future.
