Lee Jong-geuk: Biology of Kawasaki disease

Kawasaki, a Japanese pediatrician in 1961, observed the first case and reported a total of 50 similar cases in 1967 to Japan’s Allergic Institute. And in 1974, when the disease was introduced to the American Academy of Pediatrics, it became widely known about Kawasaki disease. The disease is growing worldwide, with about 5,000 children hospitalized each year in the world as it has the highest incidence next to Japan. Especially if the treatment is not given in due course is a very important child disease, which causes the swelling of the coronary artery and ruptures and death or causes severe cardiovascular complications.
