Lee Jeong-gwan: Social security and public welfare

This book is an extension of the author's 2010 Outstanding Book by the National Academy of Sciences of Korea, *Basic Living Security and Public Welfare*. As more than ten years have passed since its initial publication, significant changes have occurred not only in the welfare environment but also in the content of the system. Consequently, there was a need to refine the overall content from the current perspective and to extensively revise and supplement it from the viewpoint of future social security to address issues that have emerged due to these new environmental changes. Representative issues include discussions regarding the Fourth Industrial Revolution and social security, as well as experiments on the introduction of basic income. Furthermore, this book analyzes and organizes domestic and international policy research materials and case studies within the framework of "The Present and Future of Social Security and Public Welfare." It is based on the critical awareness the author has cultivated through firsthand experience of the needs and changes in the field while directly participating in policy development and implementation within the public welfare sector for a long time, combined with the scholarly perspective gained from years of teaching at universities. It is hoped that this book will be of some assistance in examining public welfare programs from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
