Lee Dong-won: Living and thinking
This book covers thirty topics divided into four categories. These thirty subjects are frequently discussed in everyday conversations. They are topics you have likely talked about or debated once or twice with friends or colleagues in the office, at gatherings, or sometimes over drinks. Whenever that happened, I wanted to think about each topic from a slightly different perspective. For instance, I considered the idea that the reason we constantly talk about happiness yet fail to feel it is because the phenomenon of happiness does not exist. I wanted to think differently about the purpose of life, as well as the phenomena of justice and love. Although I felt embarrassed to reveal these thoughts to the world, as it felt like exposing my inner self, I must admit that I gained a small amount of courage from Hermann Hesse’s words in *Demian*: “To me, my story is more important than the story of a certain writer. Because it is my own story.”
