Description

I first learned about BPMN in 2009, and to help promote and popularize it, I translated and published Korea’s first book on the subject in December 2010, BPMN 2.0: An Introduction to Business Process Modeling. The book did not receive the market response I had hoped for, and eventually went out of print, leaving as its legacy only that it was the first BPMN book translated into Korean. Since it was an early translation, it certainly had shortcomings in its organization and execution. Despite the poor response, I continued using BPMN actively in classes and projects, and it consistently delivered efficiency beyond expectations and positive feedback from participants. BPMN & DMN User Guide, which I am publishing now, is a book I wrote 15 years after first learning about and studying BPMN; it is an original work, not a translation. Drawing on the considerable practical experience and knowledge I have gained in classes and projects, I tried to explain the detailed purpose and use of each notation through realistic examples. I am particularly confident that, by also introducing DMN, the book explains how to create complete diagrams that people need in order to apply these methods in their work. BPMN and DMN are not technical fads that appear for a moment and then disappear; they will increasingly become part of our everyday lives.

I bought one copy as soon as it was published for use at home, then bought another for the office. If you’re interested in business modeling, this is one of the only properly written books available in Korean. I recommend it.

I remember going to the library to read BPMN 2.0: An Introduction to Business Process Modeling when I was first learning BPMN. I thought it was a translation, but I found it useful. That was when I first learned the author’s name. There didn’t seem to be any other Korean books on the topic after that, so I searched from time to time. Then, after my searches turned up nothing, a book by Kim Yeon-hong suddenly came out one day. I bought it as soon as it was published. I’m late writing this
