The material on relationships and communication that felt somewhat stiff in Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People is presented here in an easy-to-read way. In particular, the book explains how to resolve communication problems between men and women and apply the ideas in daily life. “Marriage is a process in which both people grow.” The 24 practical ways to solve problems really are practical, as the author says. It is fun to learn what to be careful about, or even hold back
I found the section on things you may regret saying to someone you love useful. There is no need to bring up family troubles or shortcomings, childhood trauma or painful experiences. Don’t explain your finances in detail, and don’t confess your love too often. The point—that giving away too much information can make you lose your appeal—resonated with me. I also feel uncomfortable and less attracted when someone talks about a shortcoming related to their parents. This is a useful book for women
