Description

A children's picture book of poems that looks at Korean flowers through a child's eyes. In the poet's gaze, flowers blooming in the mountains and fields become friends who are exciting, a little nerve-racking, and warm. Meet the many flowers that fill our land anew: fleabane with its yolk-like center, spiderwort with perked-up ears, moss rose on tiptoe, and black locust blossoms dusted with snow. On every page, flowers painted in East Asian ink-painting techniques flutter open beautifully. Each flower in full bloom soon becomes part of a colorful world of flowers. Let's welcome the flowers together in this clear, gentle world with Flower Welcome. Come greet the flowers with me.

Everything is so lovely—the flowers, the words, the pictures! The nineteen poems about wildflowers inspire complete recognition, and the dreamlike, dazzling flower paintings are utterly captivating. I prefer wildflowers blooming abundantly in the mountains and fields to cultivated garden varieties. Forsythia, spiderwort, camellias, globe amaranth, violets, azaleas, pear blossoms, bleeding hearts, bellflowers, wild strawberries, black locust blossoms, Asian celandine, lily of the valley,

This poetry picture book is so lovely. How did the writing and illustrations both turn out so beautifully? “Blue Spiderwort”—the image of blue spiderwort flowers coming down to rest in summer and stretching out is so tender it melts my heart. I highly recommend buying and reading this if you love poetry.

The cover has changed from camellias to lily of the valley, like a fresh new outfit. The bright red has become a soft blue. It features many flowers we know and often see: forsythia, camellias, violets, pear blossoms, bleeding hearts, evening primrose, wild strawberries, black locust, fleabane, lily of the valley, Asian celandine, moss rose, cosmos, and more. Each flower becomes a poem and a picture. The camellia on the old cover bloomed in winter and covered the ground where the snowman had

The playground of the bellflower. “Come here, little bee! Hurry, come hide. Hide, hide, deep inside the pitcher-shaped skirt. If you hide there, nobody will find you. Shh—don't buzz!” Of the nineteen poems that hold a child's heart, here are the two that touched me most. “Blue Spiderwort” was a flower I often saw as a child. On my way home, a blue spiderwort greeted me with “Hello.” The poet says she didn't pay attention to it back then because it was so common, but I guess I must have loved it
