Kim Jeong-hye: The Breath and Wisdom of Tojeongbigyeol

In Search of the Roots and Value of *Tojeongbigyeol* Emerging in the late Joseon Dynasty, *Tojeongbigyeol* enjoyed explosive popularity and exerted significant influence during the turbulent period of modern and contemporary Korea. However, the academic community has largely overlooked this until now. Although a few research papers have been published recently, most view *Tojeongbigyeol* solely in relation to divination, such as the I Ching or Yukhyo divination, and often fail to address the issue of its specific editions. This book analyzes that *Tojeongbigyeol* originated as a succession and development of our own unique divination method, arguing that its current form was established through the later addition of the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching and the twelve-month fortunes. It seeks to clarify the origins and nature of *Tojeongbigyeol* through its divination methods and interpretations, starting with the issue of its author. Furthermore, this study compared and analyzed the *Tojeongbigyeol*, which exhibits significant variations depending on the edition; it determined which version is the most original and distinguished later additions; through these findings, the study aimed to re-examine the traditional values embedded in our *Tojongbigyeol*.
