Kim Jeong-gyo et al.: Principles of Accounting
This book focuses on explaining accounting to readers in a logical and accessible manner so that they may develop an interest in the subject. To this end, we have strived to faithfully describe the logical connections between the basic concepts and structures of accounting. We have endeavored to help readers understand and master why and how such concepts or procedures subsequently emerged. By presenting the content of the text logically and concisely, this book aims to facilitate access to accounting while simultaneously including as many practice problems as possible. Since the fundamental logic of accounting must be learned through hands-on practice rather than just eyes, we intend to enhance the learning effectiveness of students planning to major in accounting through repetitive exercises. We believe that repetitive learning achieved through solving various problems will prove that mastery is achievable through practice. This book is divided into three parts. Part I is structured to help readers understand accounting and financial statements. To help readers understand what accounting and financial statements are, it introduces the significance of accounting as well as the nature and components of financial statements. Furthermore, it focuses on explaining the accounting cycle, which can be considered the technical principles for preparing financial statements. Specifically, it describes the entire process of preparing financial statements, explaining how transactions occurring within a company are identified and measured, and how they are aggregated and summarized through specific procedures to be finalized as accounting information. Since this content is a core component for solidifying the foundations of accounting, it has been written in a concise and logical manner to aid readers' understanding. Part II introduces accounting information categorized by the business activities conducted by a company.
