I had seen the author a lot on YouTube. They gave such a direct, practical roadmap that I became curious about the book. I hope it will be very helpful.
As the stories in the introduction describe, some children who always got 100s in elementary school see their grades fall in high school and ultimately cannot get into the college they wanted. I really liked that this book explains why children who did well in elementary school see their grades drop so much in high school, and teaches proper study methods.
There was not a single part I wanted to skip as I read. I knew math was important, but I had only worried about how to help my children and had not found a clear method. This book seems to have given me a truly satisfying answer!! I think it will be very helpful to middle-school students and above, parents, academy instructors, and schoolteachers, too. I loved how clearly it explained things I did not know: how to study at each stage, which workbooks to solve, and how to approach problems. I
A to Z on how to do well in math. This book distills 30 years of entrance-exam teaching experience from the director of a Daechi-dong math academy. It turns the methods that raised students' math grades into a complete system, making it suitable for everyone from students just starting math to those aiming for top scores. The book is divided into three parts. Part 1 describes how to study math by stage, from elementary through high school, though its content seems especially useful for older
I was so excited that I wanted to take the college entrance exam again. I feel like I could get the top grade in math. I am very interested in studying math and have read quite a lot, but I really like this book and highly recommend it. It offers a very detailed roadmap from the early elementary grades through high school. I want to pass it along to a friend whose child is just starting math, my niece or nephew who is deeply into studying math, and the first-year middle-school student
If my child says they hate studying math, if their grades do not improve even though they attend a math academy, or if you are wondering what they should study and how to prepare for the important math portion of entrance exams, this book should be a big help. The roadmap and even the methods are explained so thoroughly that I wondered if it was really okay for the author to share all the know-how from teaching at an academy. I felt so reassured. I was a math quitter, but I did not want my
I am raising an elementary-school student, and this is helpful for figuring out how to prepare for high-school math starting now and what kind of plan to make.
Isn't a child's education every parent's greatest concern? We cannot neglect academics as children move up grades, in addition to their emotional well-being. I've been especially concerned about math lately because I was bad at it and really want my child to avoid struggling with it. Reading Math Grade 1 Roadmap, published by Breed Books, clarified how I should guide my child. Author Kim Hyun-jung, a math education expert who runs a math academy in Daechi-dong, explains in detail what to focus
What is the secret to studying math in Daechi-dong? It would be wonderful if my child could study there, but given our circumstances, I am teaching them at home. I bought this book out of curiosity, and it is excellent. I thought “Daechi-dong math study methods” might mean something very unusual, but instead the book seems to teach the proper fundamentals of math study. The author generously shares 30 years of know-how, and following this method gives me the confidence that my child really
This book is helpful because it clearly explains when and how to study math throughout the 12 years from elementary through high school. The author is a veteran instructor who has taught math in Daechi-dong for 30 years, so the practical guide and precise directions are very useful for teaching math.
Kim Hyun-jung: Math Grade 1 Roadmap
In elementary school, children score over 90 in math and earn an A in middle school, but when they enter high school their grades suddenly plummet to a 4. Students are confused and parents do not know what to do. Why do children who were good at math, despite having studied ahead and attended private academies, suddenly struggle? Math education expert Kim Hyun-jung says it is difficult to do well in math without a long-term strategy and sound study methods. Math Grade 1 Roadmap brings together the math strategies of author Kim Hyun-jung, known as the “Math Queen of Daechi-dong,” who helped many students gain admission to prestigious universities over 30 years there. It lays out a systematic, grade-by-grade roadmap to the top math grade across the 12 years from elementary through high school. It gives concrete instructions for a five-step study method to reach the top grade, from understanding concepts to solving problems. Since students have limited time and energy to study, an effective roadmap is needed to succeed in entrance exams. This book will be a guide to teaching your child the right way to study math.
