Description

*Nanam Sinseo* Volume 1384, *University Professors: The Illusion and Reality*. Based on his experience working at a university for over a decade, the author—who has previously worked in the media, government, and corporations—shares his thoughts on the academic community. This single volume presents reflections on the organization of the professorial society, his stance on university reform, and the qualities of an excellent professor. Many people commonly state that universities are special organizations distinct from corporations. However, the author refutes this, arguing that such a notion is merely the talk of naive amateurs who lack knowledge of organization or management. He asserts that universities are no different from corporate organizations, differing only in their specific fields of business activity. With the declining population leading to a decrease in prospective students and the concentration of university support in the capital region, he argues that university reform through restructuring must be prepared. Capturing voices from the field regarding the pressing social issue of university openness, this book is composed of three parts. Part 1, "Academism and Journalism," diagnoses the state of Korean universities, while Part 2, "Qualifications of a Best Professor," presents the criteria for an excellent professor and specifically outlines the new roles required of professors in the 21st century. Part 3, "Professor, Oh Professor," presents an ideal for a teacher-student relationship that fosters not only academic growth but also personal development. [Hardcover]

The title of the book is "University Professors: The Illusion and Reality," but the actual content was nothing more than a draft illogically organizing the personal thoughts of a university president (although he is the dean of a two or three-year college, he is referred to as "President"). The author stated that he majored in law, worked as a reporter for a newspaper, served as a Minister of State Affairs under an unknown administration, and is currently serving as the president of a

I bought this book thinking it was about a university professor. However, the content is a topicless story that makes it hard to believe it was written by a university dean. The book itself does not present a consistent argument, and the level of the text varies; some chapters aim for the level of a high school student, others for a university professor, and still others for a college student. Terminology is also inconsistent, and words with the same meaning within a single page are written in
