Kim Dae-kwon: Church Music Philosophy

Church music is not music leading the church, it's the church leading the music. It's only when the music doesn't lead the church, and the church does it. If not based on this philosophy, it's going to be religious music in the music field, using church expression. Church music is by church, for church, and for the world. The church music philosophy leads to the thinking of church musicians. And through that accident, church music is accomplished. If it's intact, then we can say that church music should be church music. In other words, church music cannot be explained in church music. Because the creator of music is a Christian, we can't all call it church music and give real leadership to it. Because the authenticity of leadership, including all musical works, is based on calling for the church, on calling and serving it.
