Description

A new book, “Kim Beom-jun’s Physics Toys,” by Professor Kim Beom-jun, a physicist beloved for the bestseller “The Physics of Everyday Life” and the YouTube channels “Science in View” and “Beom-jun Teaches Physics.” Professor Kim has an unusual hobby: collecting toys. To him, toys are not only charming collectibles but also wonderful educational tools for learning the laws of physics firsthand. His colorful collection, built over many years, is now revealed in “Kim Beom-jun’s Physics Toys.” As readers enjoy looking at the fascinating toys, they can naturally learn principles of physics that may once have seemed difficult and dry. By the time they close the book, they may even be putting together a physics toy collection of their own.

I found this book while looking for physics books at the library and saw that it was written by the well-known Professor Kim Beom-jun. I borrowed it, liked it, and bought a copy to keep. From the cover, I expected it to explain physics through toys. Difficult concepts became easier to understand when explained with fun toys. After explaining how the physics toys work, the book includes equations for readers who want to study further or learn why physical phenomena occur. The concept that

I usually watch Professor Kim Beom-jun's YouTube channel Science in View and like him, so I bought this book. It is classified as general physics, but seems more suitable for teenagers around ninth or tenth grade than adults. It is easier than The Physics of This and That, so I found it a little disappointing.

This is a good book with lively writing that uses everyday toys to make physics laws easy to understand. It encourages people interested in physics and engineering, as well as high school and college students, to experience things firsthand.

It is difficult, but fun. You can look things up in a dictionary.

Kim Beom-jun's Physics Toys. Professor Kim Beom-jun teaches physics at Sungkyunkwan University. I read the book there while waiting for my child's schedule, and it felt as if I were with the professor. Most people think physics is difficult just from seeing the word. The title Physics Toys makes you wonder what toys have to do with it. Just as the title says, this book makes scientific principles, especially physics, easy to understand through toys. It also offers a different perspective.

When I ask an acquaintance in a STEM field, “Aren’t professors and researchers at the frontier of their discipline?” and “What are they like in person?”, I always get the same answer: “They’re just nerds who happen to dig into a ‘genre’ that society accepts.” It’s said half jokingly, though perhaps a little more seriously than that, but the essence is no different. They love the subject and research in a field so much, or they find they’re suited to it, and so on. When does this “socially

This is a review written before reading the book. Professor Kim Beom-jun explains fascinating and useful laws of physics that seem obvious, then not obvious, and then obvious again. I usually watched his YouTube videos. I happened to see that he had published a new book and immediately previewed it. The first chapter's explanations seemed simple but were not simplistic, and they made the subject fun, so I bought it right away. I have not received it yet; I will review it again after finishing.
