It's easy to explain concepts and it's neat and it makes sense. I recommend arithmetic.
If you want the mathematics of combinatorials or graph theory, then the analogy. We're going to start with a set of numbers, algorithms, logic, and so on. I like having lots of exercises, but the curity is either changing words or too easy. Not generally thought of as a book for pure mathematics.
