My mom is making clothes as a hobby, and this book is really helping her. She's actually made several pieces! You won't regret getting it.
I love it so much.
This is really helpful when making clothes. I wish I could buy the out-of-print book on making wedding dresses, too.
This one book contains 26 full-size basic patterns, with three variations for each. It really is an encyclopedia, covering collars, cuffs, sleeves, sleeve openings, hems, ruffles, and more.
As soon as I saw the title, I really wanted this book. The content is so comprehensive, and I love that it includes patterns.
I was disappointed when the book went out of print, but now it has been reissued as The Big Encyclopedia of 80 Clothing Patterns, bringing together dresses, blouses, skirts, pants, outerwear, and tops. It includes basic pattern blocks, and once you know how to alter them, you can quickly create the pattern you want; the book explains this in detail. Although the title says 80 designs, using the techniques in different ways lets you create an unlimited number. Even with the same bodice, dresses
Keiko Nonaka et al.: 80 Clothing Pattern Encyclopedia (Complete Edition)
Three books that were well known as sewing guides—the Easy Dresses to Make with a Sewing Machine Style Book, Easy Blouses, Skirts and Pants to Make with a Sewing Machine Style Book, and Easy Outerwear and Tops to Make with a Sewing Machine Style Book—went out of print, but many readers continued looking for them. Now the three have been combined into a complete edition. It presents 80 garments for year-round wear, including dresses, blouses, skirts, pants, outerwear, and tops. For each type of clothing, it explains how to make a basic style and variations based on it. Sample illustrations show different fabrics, colors, and patterns so you can picture how each garment will look when worn. Full-size patterns in sizes S, M, ML, and L are included for every basic style, so anyone can make clothes of their own. Discover sewing techniques and design tips as you make garments, along with full-size basic patterns and many variations. This complete edition combines the three earlier style books. Not all dresses are alike: changing the waistline, pleats or slits, sleeve length, or neckline can create a completely different look. The book first introduces a basic style, then shows different variations. For example, it starts with an A-line dress, then shows variations such as a wrap dress with the same A-line shape and a dress with a wider neckline and a slit.
