In the world, there are prolific writers who make us wait endlessly for their next work, while there are others who constantly present new works at an incredible pace. Since his debut in 1985 up to 2022, he has published over 100 full-length novels and short story collections, along with essays and picture books in his spare time; roughly speaking, this means he has completed an average of more than three works per year. In that sense, *Dream Flower* marks a significantly exceptional milestone in his career. This is because it took a full ten years from the end of its serialization in the monthly magazine *Yaksa-gado* to its completion as a single book, undergoing numerous revisions. As ten years is enough time for even the landscape to change, the story underwent a complete transformation, leaving only the subject matter of the "yellow morning glory" behind, and was reborn as a completely new novel. Although Keigo Higashino has consistently proven, as a born storyteller, that writing time and the quality of a work are not directly proportional, *Dream Flower*, meticulously honed over the years, exudes the intense aura of a well-made novel right from the prologue, knocking on the reader's heart.
