Kang Kyung-sun: Commentary on the Preamble of the Constitution
The author, who has lectured at the Department of Law at Korea Open University for over 30 years, has been exploring relevant literature and research since receiving a request for a manuscript on the Preamble to the Constitution. For the author, this served as an opportunity to gain a new perspective on the study of the Constitution and to examine the history of our nation as well as its present and future paths; this book is the fruit of those efforts. Because the Preamble to the Constitution stipulates the principle of popular sovereignty and the constitutional power, clarifies the founding ideals and the legitimacy of the Republic of Korea, and presents the fundamental ideology the Constitution aims for, it can be described as "the Constitution of the Republic of Korea condensed into a single sentence." This book is an attempt to survey the history and future of the constitutional spirit through the lens of that Preamble.
