Jung Joon-young et al.: Private vocational schools in the colony, another origin of Korean universities

It wasn't just the high education of the Japanese and the stately imperial colleges. But the only ‘ college ’ that the ship’s representatives recognized in the colonies was the University of the Long Power. To go to college, you had to go to the University of the Long Reich through a great competition, or to go out to Japan or to other countries abroad to learn. But if higher education was not limited to college, there was another way of higher education in colonial ships. The college was that. The College of Professionals is a school that teaches a professional knowledge or skill by definition. The Private Specialty School has been the lowest in the colonies' advanced education system throughout the year. But in colonial ships private specialized schools were not necessarily ‘ inferior ’ institutions that are confined to such practical vocational and professional education. Many entered these schools with a desire for higher education and dreamed of ideals and aspirations that were different from Japanese-led, highly educated, transculturally run, and so on. Private specialization was also a way to keep academic activity going for the senior intellectuals who had difficulty with their academic work in Japanese-led school. Of course, private colleges could not only shine as ‘ethnics, ’ as the myth of later times. It was not easy for private schools to leave the colony's magnetic field, and every moment it became a struggle between colonial power and ethnic history, it was the reality of the hardy colonies they faced. Yet these private schools are not very much of a meaning.
