Jon Elster: Understanding Marx 1

*Understanding Marx*, Volume 1. The author, Jon Elster, is a representative figure of so-called "analytical Marxism" along with Roemer, Cohen, and Shevorski, and this book clearly demonstrates their "analytical" characteristics. The author extracts Marx's arguments from the original texts across all fields, ranging from Marx's philosophical anthropology (Chapter 2) to economics (Chapter 3), social philosophy (Chapter 4), philosophy of history (Chapter 5), sociology (Chapter 6), political theory (Chapter 7), ideology (Chapter 8), and social psychology, and then examines whether they can serve as a "scientific explanation."
