Description

*On Liberty* is a classic of liberal thought that meticulously analyzes the concept of freedom—which had previously been merely an object of vague praise—as a philosophical principle and elevates it to a social and ethical level to concretize it.

This book devotes the majority of its pages to explaining "freedom of opinion." It discusses freedom of opinion in various contexts, including religion, history, the era in which the author lived, and society. Personally, I would like to recommend this book to the following audience: those who, in their pursuit of the truth, listen to opposing viewpoints as if asserting their own truth to others, and who humbly accept that truth can always evolve into something else. As is the case with all

There are four volumes in the Penguin Classics Humanities series (Great Humanities Set: '4 Ways to Read the World'). I was planning to buy the set of *On Liberty*, *The Prince*, *The Social Contract*, and *On the Origin of Inequality Among Men*, but I have decided to buy them one by one as I read them. If I buy the set, the English version of *The Prince* is included as well. "The individual is accountable to society only in matters concerning others. His independence is absolute in matters

First of all, the cover was pretty, which made it fun to read, and I liked that the text was easy to read. It might not be suitable for those looking for detailed explanations or large margins, but it was great for simply enjoying the text and highlighting as I read.

It seems like a good book for deeply reflecting on Mill's philosophy, which argues that individual freedom must be guaranteed to prevent the loss of individuality in modern society, which is becoming increasingly mass-produced and standardized.

John Stuart Mill (1806–1873) Penguin Classics / Translated by Kwon Ki-dong. First Edition, First Printing / Published March 25, 2015. Read between April 11 and 22, 2017. I ended up reading this book because a group decided to, and I am very satisfied with my experience. I was able to learn more about the preciousness of freedom, and it clearly resolved the ambiguous boundaries I myself had been crossing. When discussing the freedom I knew and the freedom that is so precious, the text in the

The liberalism recommended by a citizen writer. The free will and the thinking he's trying to say is in this book.

It's a little light book, so you can read it as soon as you read it. I bought it for your recommendation, and the message about John Stuart Mill's liberalism is really a reminder of a lot of things. It's not true freedom if you have free conversation or discussion and you don't follow the majority's opinions and accept people who have bias or discrimination and have different ideas. And the state cannot violate individual freedom and should intervene only when it's not benefiting from others.
