Jo Su-jeong: Cappadocia Art
The book illuminates the face of art in the Caucasus of the time of Byzantium. The origins and meanings and roles of the main ideas were divided into early development of the Caucasus Church, the sexual image debate, the Macedonian Renaissance, the age of crisis, the cultural transition of Byzantium and Islam. Especially with the Frescos on the Byzantium Church in Kazakhstan, the interpretation of each figure, the origin and meaning of the spurious elements, the transformation, the status and role in church decorations, and the relationship and significance of the political and social conditions surrounding all of this, the history of the world. We also discussed in the last chapter an interesting theme, how the Byzantium art is re-created or re-invented as a cultural exchange with Islam. The author of the book, Professor Chosun, has made the subject of his works on the site and is an authority on the study of the Caucasus, which is still being studied in the area. In particular, the author was a member of a group of the Church Research Group in Warsaw during his studies at Paris 1 University in France, and he participated in several local investigations and academic activities. The book is directed to a major church in this area, and new data has been supplemented by personal research by authors who have not yet been reported in the academic world. And since 2000, the results of the program in the province of Kazakhstan have been based on a appendix to the church in Byzantium. Considering that in the country, the Caucasus is still a frontier for art history, it would say that it is worth a valuable field study.
