Jeong Eun-kyung: Development and Evaluation of Early Childhood Education Programs

The government and the Ministry of Education are showing immense interest in early childhood education, and the entire public trusts the professional competence of early childhood teachers. However, it is necessary to carefully re-examine through which early childhood education curriculum the young children receiving these benefits are actually receiving educational advantages for their development and learning. To implement the national-level early childhood education curriculum, an understanding of the seven subjects of early childhood education—language education, mathematics education, science education, art education, music education, social education, and movement education—music must come first. Knowledge of the teaching and learning methods for these seven subjects is indispensable for applying and creating methods suitable for the classroom context. To achieve the content goals of the Nuri Curriculum, better and more diverse teaching and learning methods must be provided to teachers in the field. This book was written with the intention of implementing the Nuri Curriculum in depth and systematically by connecting the understanding of the national-level common curriculum—a core competency of early childhood teachers—with knowledge of the content of the seven subjects of early childhood education.
