Description

"Science for All" is not intended solely for general students, but also for exceptionally talented students and students with disabilities. Science education must be emphasized even more, particularly for students with disabilities who face difficulties accessing and participating in science due to intellectual, sensory, or physical impairments. This is because science education is education for daily life and aims to equip students with general knowledge. Currently, there are reports of cases where blind students can understand the reflection and refraction of light through models, and where students with intellectual disabilities can physically experience and understand basic scientific concepts. Therefore, this book was written not only as a guide to science education for current special education teachers teaching students with disabilities, but also to promote a proper understanding of science education for prospective teachers studying special education at university. From this perspective, this book first examines the nature of science and the relationship between science and education, explores the direction of science education in special education, and then investigates the characteristics, goals, and educational content of science education in special education. Furthermore, as a methodology for special education science, this book introduces science teaching and learning methods, instructional models, educational media, and assessment content and methods, providing guidance on the content and methods of special education science. Next, the book divides science education into four domains—matter, energy, life, and earth and space science—examines the relationship between each domain and daily life, explores the constituent content of each domain, and presents practical teaching and learning plans by selecting specific units within each domain.
