Jeon Il-ju: Epigraphs of Dalseong 2: Monuments of Loyalty and Filial Piety and Historic Monuments

Epigraphy of Dalseong II is a collection of explanatory materials that allows for an overview of the steles, memorial shrines, historical monuments, and commemorative monuments related to loyalty and filial piety scattered throughout the Dalseong region. Steles of loyalty and filial piety are related to the state's moral education policies and were erected to honor individuals who personally practiced loyalty and filial piety. Depending on the character and deeds of the individuals, these steles are classified into Monuments of Loyalty and Integrity (Chungjeolbi), Monuments of Martyrdom and Integrity (Sunjeolbi), Monuments of Filial Sons (Hyojabi), Monuments of Filial Piety (Jeonghyobi), Monuments of Virtuous Women (Yeolbubi), Memorial Shrines (Jeongnyeobi), and Monuments of Chastity and Virtue (Jeongyeolbi). Historical monuments and commemorative monuments are erected to commemorate the deeds of ancestors or to record historical events, while monuments of historical sites are stones erected on vacant lots where historical relics once stood.
