Jeon Dal-su: Exciting religious life
In our religious life, there are times when we feel frustrated because we cannot focus on Mass or find the Bible and doctrine difficult. We may also question how to live properly as a person of faith. Consequently, religious life can sometimes feel like a burdensome obligation or a heavy homework assignment. At such times, a book has been published that reminds us once again of the immense joy and happiness that a life of faith in God brings us. It is *Exciting Life of Faith* (Catholic Publishing House, President Father Augustine Hong Seong-hak), a faith essay by Father Jeon Dal-su. Father Jeon presents his experiences from diverse pastoral activities both at home and abroad, stories of the people he has met, as well as liturgy, doctrine, and the stories of biblical figures and saints in an easy and engaging manner. In particular, just as one can recall the taste of prayer from a delicious bowl of sundaeguk (blood sausage soup), he shares colorful stories of how to live out faith in daily life; by doing so, he naturally reminds us that finding and remembering God in every corner of our lives is precisely what constitutes a life of happiness. "I lived in the United States for about five years and had the opportunity to write, so I have been writing consistently. When I gathered them all, I realized that the direction of all my writings was directed toward God, who grants us eternal happiness." I believe that the person who lives with a righteous conscience, performing good deeds without harming others, and serving God—the Almighty and source of happiness who fully governs human destiny in life and death—is truly the one advancing toward eternal happiness. ― From page 6 of the ‘Preface’
