The environmental movement in Korea began in earnest in the 1970s. Rapid industrialization and urbanization brought accumulated environmental problems to the surface, creating an urgent need for solutions. These social demands led to the formation and development of the environmental movement and environmental education. Environmental activists have grown alongside this era. This book captures the process by which environmental activists who have led the movement transformed into environmental education activists while undergoing a shift in their identities. To this end, life history and oral history research were conducted on individuals who experienced these changes.
