Description

*Studies on Gihoyuhak* introduces the general principles and specific theories of Gihoyuhak and explores its characteristics, in which Neo-Confucianism, ritual studies, practical learning, moral philosophy, Yangmingism, and the theory of Horak were developed more diversely compared to Yeongnam Confucianism. Part 1 examines the philosophical characteristics of Gihoyuhak and Yeongnam Confucianism, the two major academic lineages of Korean Confucianism, and compares and reviews the philosophical spirits of Toegye and Yulgok. Part 2 attempts a modern perspective on the thought of Yulgok, who holds a central position within Gihoyuhak. As a specific study, Part 3 conducts an in-depth exploration of the scholarship and thought of Gihoyuhak scholars during the early Joseon Dynasty's era of moral philosophy, the scholarship and thought of the Yulgok and Ugye schools, and the scholarship and thought of the Doam Yi Jae lineage, a non-master-inheriting Yulgok school.
