*A History of Ancient Chinese Philosophy Through Figures* organizes ancient Chinese philosophy from the Shang and Zhou dynasties to the fall of the Qin Empire in 207 BC. Since the late 19th century, a large number of previously unseen underground materials from ancient times have been unearthed in China. The author confesses that upon encountering these new materials, he struggled with the question of whether to rewrite the "History of Chinese Philosophy," and this book is the result of that deep contemplation. Of course, research on these materials is still in its early stages and is therefore not widely accepted in academia, so the author handles them cautiously. However, this is sufficient to arouse curiosity and interest regarding the new materials, and this book can be considered a transitional work dealing with a new history of ancient Chinese philosophy.
