Description

The book is made up of three large sections. Part 1 focuses on the conflict that nationalism is creating at an international level and on efforts to overcome it, and Part 2 explores how nationalism works at a domestic level where multicultural phenomena are conducted. Part 3 further asks how culture enters the industrial sector and the logic of capital and nationalism interacts with the process of producing, distributing and consuming cultural goods. The first part is entitled Nationalism and Peace. Nationalism has been a big part of the national identity since its modern era. Nationalism as an identity is a mechanism for solidarity, while externally it involves exclusive tendencies in relations between nations. The subject of Part 2 is Nationalism and Multiculturality. Here we note the possibility that nationalism as a tool for integration will clash with multiculturality that exists within a country. But sometimes multicultural narratives in a society are not introduced into the framework of national governing techniques that have been based on nationalistic imaginations. While tension between nationalistic orientation and multiculturality is not completely resolved, there are also cases where a marked gap in power is used as a means of national and national goals. Part 3 is about nationalism and capital. Here, the problem of cultural conflict led by nationalism is described in connection with the cultural industry.
