Description

A Guide to Self-Reflection for Properly Preparing for the Sacrament of Confession Everyone commits sins in life. While some sins are dismissed as trivial and overlooked, others cause severe pangs of conscience from which one cannot escape. If one treats sin too lightly or, conversely, becomes bound by it, it will hinder a healthy life of faith. The Sacrament of Confession, one of the sacraments of the Catholic Church, is a sacrament of grace that guides believers to repent of their sins and approach God. To fully participate in this sacrament, it is essential for believers to clearly realize what sins they have committed. *The Guide to Confession*, a guide to self-reflection that allows one to examine one's sins before confession, has been revised and published by Catholic Publishing House (President: Father Didacco Kim Dae-young). Since its initial publication in 2000, this book has served as a guide for the sacramental life of believers for 19 years. The newly revised edition of *The Guide to Confession* includes prayers updated according to the revised *Catholic Prayer Book*. In addition, a more specific list of reflections is introduced, allowing readers to reflect not only on sins they have realized but also on those they have not yet realized, thereby bringing them one step closer to the abundant graces of the Sacrament of Confession. Pastors on the front lines say that the faithful do not seem to know which sins to confess during the Sacrament of Confession. The faithful also say that they are not sure what constitutes a sin. Taking these practical issues into account, this book was compiled to assist with reflection, which is the most important of the three prerequisites for a true Sacrament of Confession: contrition and repentance.

Before receiving the Sacrament of Confession, the penitent can seek complete forgiveness from God by sincerely repenting of the sins they have committed and resolving never to commit such acts again. Produced as a portable booklet, this book allows believers facing the Sacrament of Confession to easily take it out and read it anywhere to deeply reflect on their sins. If, through this book, the penitent realizes the sins they must confess, repents of them, and repents, they will be fully

It is an excellent guide for self-reflection before confession, as it lists sins easily committed in daily life based on the standards of the Ten Commandments and the Seven Deadly Sins. I am simply grateful to the priest for presenting this guideline.
