Hong Ae-ja: Unerasable memories
In the Beomwoo Munko, which the author encountered in the 1980s, he was able to immerse himself in a diverse range of works by teachers he respected. As he read works superior to any world masterpiece, the dream of literature he had long cherished gradually took shape. Although there was a period when he briefly stopped writing, he picked up his pen again thanks to the opportunity to meet an excellent mentor. Despite the long passage of time, he was unable to publish essay collections frequently. Perhaps it was because he felt afraid at the thought of the moment his work was put into print. He recalls that he could only feel at ease and release his work after a long period of revision. After more than a decade, the author published his second essay collection, followed by a selection of essays. 2020 came as a year of great fortune for the author. This was because he was able to leave behind, in his own words, the very pages of the Beomwoo Munko that he had envied while reading over twenty years ago.
