I've read up to page 163, and the soldiers' brains are filled with muscle. Is this Odysseus the King of Wisdom? Isn't he just a lucky madman? I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for the soldiers. +Review after reading about 200 pages: A cure for anemia. Still, if you enjoyed the Greek and Roman mythology comic books, this is a classic literary novel worth recommending.
Thanks to the combination of chronological reconstruction and a third-person perspective, following the story is really enjoyable haha. Even while reading the complete translation, I sometimes wished there was a version where someone spoon-fed the text like this, and Lechner's annotated translation was exactly the book I was looking for~ It's totally fun!!
Once you pick it up, you can't put it down. It is well-organized to keep you immersed, and written in an easy-to-understand style, so I plan to recommend it to my 5th-grade son, who has already finished reading the comic book series on Greek and Roman mythology. I struggled a bit reading the original translation of the Iliad, but I think it will be much easier to read the Lechner translation. Highly recommended.

It is written in an epic narrative style, which helps with understanding. The book design and craftsmanship are also good.
Homer: Odyssey
Homer's immortal classic, *The Odyssey*, has been newly reimagined and recreated by Austrian author Auguste Lechner. Meaning "the song of Odysseus," this work depicts the long ten-year journey of Odysseus—a wise hero who played a decisive role in leading the Achaean army to victory in the Trojan War through the Trojan Horse strategy—as he overcomes all manner of adversity to head toward his homeland of Ithaca. It is regarded as the archetype of adventure stories, combining the motif of the homecoming, in which a person who has left home returns after much hardship to reunite with family, take revenge on those who threatened his position, and restore his original authority, with the motif of the sailor, who experiences wondrous things while facing numerous near-death crises during the voyage. Odysseus is a character who, rather than reacting immediately when faced with crisis, endures and waits for the right time; he resists the temptation of an immortal life and a comfortable existence, never ceasing his voyage toward home in order to reunite with his family. Even knowing that a difficult path lies ahead, he carves out his own destiny through his own choices and does not stop challenging himself, vividly recreating the image of a human being enduring hardships while enduring a finite life, thereby evoking empathy.
