I am buying this as a gift for my nephew who likes royal tombs and history. The set seems well-organized.
The themes of death and tombs are bound to be heavy for children, no matter how they approach them. I believe that understanding royal tombs is the first step toward studying such weighty topics within the context of history. True to its title, this book is interesting in that it provides the basic knowledge necessary for a first trip to a royal tomb and captures the essence of a field trip. This is a book that really opened my eyes when I saw it at the bookstore. It feels like it fully fills in the gaps I always felt were missing whenever I visited royal tombs with my children. I used to have to be content with fragmented knowledge gathered from the internet or various other books, but now I am so happy to have a book that I can read with my kids during our visits. The vivid photos are also wonderful.
A book has been released that makes field trips more fun. I love that reading it feels like a field trip instructor is right beside you explaining things! How about reading it with your child and asking them to explain things to you just like an instructor? It seems like it would be a really active form of learning. I definitely have to try this with my child.
