*Korean Democracy After Unification* is a book that examines the present and future of the Republic of Korea as it prepares for a democratic Korea following unification. Kang Won-taek, a professor at the School of Political Science and International Relations at Seoul National University and the author of *How Conservative Politics Survived* and *Change and Continuity in Korean Electoral Politics*, points out that if a new vision for Korea is not envisioned and prepared for now in anticipation of unification—which could become a reality at any time—the country could face significant turmoil upon future unification. As grounds for this argument, he examines two shortcomings in Korea's democratic political system and presents rationale and alternatives in each chapter, categorized into five areas: political parties, electoral systems, federalism, bicameralism, and forms of government, in order to complement these weaknesses. Furthermore, the book richly supports the author's arguments by presenting various domestic and international examples, such as the process of German unification and the conflict resolution process in Ireland.
