It's a book by an art historian about the history of Enlightenment. The content is rather distracting, but you can see a great insight.
Enlightenment seems to have been acknowledging and exploring intellectual integrity, which they do not know.

Franco Venturi: Utopia and Reform of Enlightenment Thought
Franco Bentori, a great historian of the 20th century, proves in this short book the excellence he has as a historian. Bentoury strips off the clothes of philosophical and Marxist interpretations that were added to the ideas of European enlightenment throughout the 18th century and reveals how the Enlightenment actually worked in history. To resist the temptation to seek the source of the Enlightenment, to borrow the glory of the old Rome and Greece, and to discover the true beginning of the idea of enlightenment from the tendency to desecrate history. Benturi shows from a political and historical point of view how the real republics' experiences enriched the Enlightenment reformers, how these reformers interacted on European continents and created the spirit of the 'enlightened new' era. The view of history, not philosophy, “inspires the temptation to go back and forth until they reach the source of water. Historians must tell us how the river runs and flows through some obstacles and difficulties. The book is a quote from Franco Benturi's 1969 George McCalli Tribellian. This is a long, historic talk by Cambridge University, by E. H. Kaga's 1961 talk was widely read in the book "What History Is.". Bentouri wants to redefine the relationship between the 18th century Republican traditions and Enlightenment ideas in the 17th and 18th centuries in this talk, which includes 'kings and republics of England' 'The Right to punish' from Montesky to 'The Revolution' 'Enmperation of Enlightenment and 'Prescise of Geographic'. There are two main errors in the study of thought-insurgents that he points out.
