Reviews
A treasure trove of wisdom that powerful figures in modern Chinese history, such as Mao Zedong and Chiang Kai-shek, always kept by their bedside and cherished. It contains anecdotes of those who conducted themselves wisely from the Spring and Autumn Period to the Ming Dynasty. However, there are quite a few typos in the translation, and perhaps because the translator is of Korean descent, the awkward tone is jarring.
I should spend my time reading Chinese humanities during this season of contemplation, when we need to look inward.
I think it took me about four months after buying this book to finally finish it. At first, I read 10 pages, got sleepy, and put it down; the next time, I read 20 pages, got sleepy again, and put it down; the time after that, 30 pages... I gradually increased the number of pages little by little like this, and finally finished it today. Because this book is written in a chronological style, like the writing of ancient people, it felt very dry and difficult to follow when I first started reading
