If you expect a lot of information and advice, you'll be disappointed. There's a little bit of advice for the pastors in the front, but the more I go back, the more little news my father sends to my son. I'm disappointed in you.
I've just become a pastor, and once again I'm asking God for the essence of the church and the holy ministry. I was filled with hope that I would build a church that the world would recognize as being the pastor that Jesus wanted, not the minister that the whole world wanted. “I hope you are the receiver of a letter from Eugene Peterson! Over twenty years ago, I was in the harsh and difficult environment of the first year of my church. I had a good school and a good theological education, but I learned very little about organizing the church from the beginning. I didn't know what to do, and I felt incompetent. Fear of failure has been swept into the air. So I called the only person who had believed that he would improvise on the phone and lead me out of this maze. “Dad, could you write me a letter that says we need to take a look at the pastoral statements? That was how the deliberate correspondence began, and my father and I took a closer look at the calling of the pastor together. We called these letters Timothy Letters. Like Paul’s letters to a young pastor who is “a true son in faith,” they were letters full of advice, encouragement and mentoring about pastoral life. He gave a lot of sermons and talks over a long period of life and meetings and wrote dozens of books, but the best appearance of a man named Eugene Peterson is when he talks. He was essentially a central figure. Father's life was rooted in the doctrine of the body, and everything is resolved by relationship, by the life of the flesh and by the community. I believe these letters will give lasting wisdom to other young ministers and to younger ministers who need a constant guidance from the wise. Eugene Peterson is my father.
