Description

Emil Cioran possesses the most delicate mind among today's writers of true capability. – Susan Sontag Emil Cioran's masterpiece, newly read through the translation of poet Kim Jeong-ran! Emil Cioran's masterpiece *The Discomfort of Being Born* (De l’inconvénient d’être né), which caused a sensation in the European literary world upon its publication in France in 1973 and has been read continuously across generations in Korea to the extent that it has an ardent fan base, has been newly published in the translation of poet Kim Jeong-ran. Unlike previous editions translated under titles such as *The Solitude of My Birthday* or *I Am Hurt at This Moment*, this book is published under its original title. In this work, translator Kim Jeong-ran bridges or reveals the gap between Emil Cioran's unique use of French and the Korean language, conveying to us an aphoristic cry akin to his own voice regarding our existence "thrown" into the world.

My heart aches when I encounter sentences that force me to face my inner self; they open a window for self-reflection. What do I worry about after ordering books from Kyobo? The packaging being sloppy and the condition of the books? Please don't just promote your sales; consider the feelings of the recipient. I am deeply disappointed by the packaging. How many times has this happened already? Do I have to call and ask about the packaging every time I place an order? I had nowhere else to voice

This is Cioran's masterpiece, which caused a sensation among European intellectuals when it was published in France in 1973. It was published under its original title, not the previously published title, "I Am Hurt."

I don't know what the original is like, but the translation is terrible. Letter by letter, direct verbatim... It's Korean, but it feels choppy and disjointed. I wonder if you just did a literal translation without sufficient understanding...
