Vince Lombardi, the greatest coach in American football history who led a last-place team with a 10% winning percentage to five championships in nine years, said this at his retirement ceremony: “Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, losing is also a habit.” Those who know how to win make the best choices even in the worst moments and ultimately achieve victories that seem impossible. I believe that victory is the result of effort that only those who know the method can enjoy. However, unfortunately, there is no way to win 100% in this world. Yet, looking at the Bible, we learn that there is a way to win 100%. Saints who have the boldness to move forward one step at a time even amidst suffering, believing in and relying on God, have always triumphed in any situation. They triumphed even when surrounded on all sides by pursuing armies and the Red Sea, and they triumphed even when sold into slavery in Egypt. They triumphed in the blazing furnace and they triumphed even inside prison. The Lord Jesus Christ, whom we believe in, triumphed over death even in the suffering of the cross, and He grants that victory to us as well. No matter how difficult these times may be, how challenging my current situation may be, or how humble my heart and circumstances may be, if we trust and follow the Lord alone—the Lord alone—we can triumph at any time and in any situation. I pray that the amazing and great blessing of daily victory will come upon our lives as we walk with the Lord who promises sure victory. “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” - 1 Corinthians 15:57
