Daniel Conway: Introduction to Nietzsche's *Genealogy of Morals*
The book is translated from a 2008 commentary by Professor Conway, well known as the influential Nietzsche researcher in the British American world. Nietzsche points out that the usual intellectual activity of most people in the history of morality is to assimilate strangers into the familiar, and it is very difficult to make a problem of what they are accustomed to when they do so constantly. What Nietzsche is familiar with is the traditional moral values of the West. So, the work that Nietzsche has done in the line of morality is to try and trace the true values and meaning of the moral values themselves that have become so familiar to us that they are no longer difficult to address. The moral background consists of three essays that are suspected of having a problem with traditional moral values. First, the first essay with the title good and bad, good and evil, focuses on moral slave revolt. Such rebellion is the process in which selfish and aristocratic values of good and bad are spread as altruistic and slave-like values of goodness and evil. Nietzsche, a former ascetic priest who played a decisive role in this practice. With the help of an ascetic priest who has instilled in his slaves a hatred for the nobility he felt and has manipulated the power of his good, moral slave revolt was only successful.
