As in Ossuan's Memsa, it is a real gratitude that “the book has made human beings easy to find by its written form, unlike the traditional man-made dictionary which just arranged names.". And the appendix is a delicately designed one, so there's nothing to throw away from the first chapter to the last. A scholar who studied statistics, a statement in which he organized a course, and even a syilabus list of sympathies was very much needed.
