Although the crisis of the humanities has been discussed more than once in recent times, to the point where it has become a stale topic, the spirit and values of the humanities remain the enduring invention and tradition of human civilization, both in the past and present; therefore, we cannot help but preserve, promote, and renew them. No one believes that the humanities should disappear from the world, but researchers in the humanities are acutely experiencing the difficulty of protecting and developing such ideas in the reality of a capitalist society where material values have triumphed over spiritual values. While it is impossible to imagine that adding this one more book will change such circumstances, given the current situation in Korean society where the humanities are unable to escape the trends and shackles of capitalist globalization, examining what the humanities intend to do and what they hold will be essential for constellating the past, present, and future of the humanities.
