It's a good book, but it's not easy to write too optimistic when you look at the position of the central Eurasian nomads. If trade goes well, it's not just a good idea. Most of them are, but they're good when they've got strength. They invade other countries to alleviate their internal conflicts.
I think it's a good luck to have access to the Central Eurasian history written by the world's best authorities. It's not our history that matters, so what we need to understand is Central Eurasia.
