I like this book. Books that turn art from scientific perspective. I will read it with appreciation. And then we have to do that.
There's music that never leaves my mind all day long. Most of them are stimulating and meaningless. That's called a "guerm" in German. It's simple and it's repetitive, so you can't easily shake it out of your head. This is an example of the addiction to music. The reason we like music is that its claim to be the basic need of the brain is quite convincing. Like appetite and sexual appetite, it also produces happy hormones that make you feel better, and so the mechanism that keeps you doing it
Christoph Drösser: Musical Instinct
German scientific journalist Christopher de Lörer’s instinct is to look at music from various angles and find the ‘music instinct ’ in the brain. Most people think their singing skills are not fluent, and they are ashamed to stand in front of others and sing, but in fact, we often sing and make melodys before we're born. Why would you throw all this primitive desire out at the end of your life? We can see that our brain, like appetite and sexual desire, is endowed with a musical instinct. Music makes you feel better, keeps you doing music, and rich music experience is a flexible and re-composing experience. Music is also a powerful stimulus to touch emotions. “Everybody has musicality. "I want to be a good friend of mine, and I want to make sure that I don't have to be an asshole.". He recommends that you not content yourself with listening to passive music but be in the active music activity right now.
