Choi Jong-mun et al.: Assessment of North Korean Mineral Resources and Development Environment

In recent years two opinions have been in conflict about the value of North Korea's underground resources. One is that it's worth a lot of money, and the other is that we can't talk about it when we don't have a cold evaluation. First, there must be two things in the South to assess the underground resources. One is the production of reserves, and the other is the accounting for the value of the reserves as money. But depending on what economic system you're in, the values and evaluations of resources change. North Korea's system of resource evaluation is the way the former Soviet Union adopted it, which shows a very different picture than the current Eastern European sector and Russia's resource evaluation 30 years after the adoption of the system. This revision reflects the opinions given by the experts in resource industry and public institutions, giving us a wide range of unencumbered views. And particularly by talking about strategy, we have a basic perspective on the rare metals and the rarest of land. We tried to sequence some of our most successful projects, particularly the overseas resource development projects, and set up a standard for success. But it's a sad fact that the problem of the waste mines, including the use and environment of strategic minerals, and the lack of access to the unemployment of many mine workers, which would happen if the very technology of the fourth industrial revolution were applied, has been beyond the current level of capital and technology in the labor-based North Korean mines. We hope that through the ongoing research and effort of many field experts, good results can be produced.
