*China's Power Elite: How They Are Forged and What Do They Think* is a book that systematically introduces the eventful life journeys and values of 30 power elites leading modern China. It initially selected the 25 individuals elected to the Central Politburo at the 19th Party Congress held in 2017. By adding First Lady Peng Liyuan, veteran power broker Wang Qishan (who returned as Vice President after retirement), military hardliner Li Zuocheng, Xi Jinping's conciliatory He Yiting, and Supreme People's Court President Zhou Qiang, the book thoroughly uncovers the true nature of these 30 power elites who drive China. The author collected diverse materials and conducted objective verification procedures to produce a balanced narrative, while adding a sense of immediacy based on interviews conducted firsthand. Furthermore, the book avoids blind adoration of China and explores strategies for South Korea regarding China.
