Choi Byung-kyu: Learning Korean and Chinese through English

Based on a fundamental understanding of the Korean language, this book offers the opportunity to cultivate advanced Korean conversational skills while simultaneously acquiring Korean, Chinese, and English. In fact, Korean and Chinese belong to completely different linguistic systems and lineages. However, as they belong to the same East Asian language group, the two languages share significant commonalities in vocabulary and pronunciation. For beginners, I identify these similarities and present strategies in this book for learning the two languages simultaneously through comparison. Furthermore, this textbook will be helpful for Koreans acquiring Chinese and English at the same time. Since Chinese and English are very similar not only in grammar and word order but also in pronunciation, studying them together yields mutually complementary results. Although the English used in this book covers only basic beginner conversation, studying it alongside Chinese will greatly aid in naturally mastering both language systems simultaneously.
