This is the same book as Embroidering the Streets of Europe, which came out around 2021. I thought it was a new book by the same authors, but they only changed the cover. I expected a new release and felt disappointed.
I like that I can embroider places I have visited using easy techniques. It is also great to keep in my collection.
Romantic Europe in Stitches is an embroidery book that beautifully captures lovely places across Europe, including Italy, France, and Spain, in a way that delights the senses. It does not use many colors or a wide variety of embroidery techniques, which I think makes it approachable even for beginners. Although I visited Venice, Italy, quite a while ago, I am stitching while remembering the dazzling beauty of St. Mark's Basilica. If you have traveled, you can stitch while thinking of beautiful
Charles Henri et al.: Adorning the romantic streets of Europe
Montmartre, a café in Provence, Rome's Colosseum, and Venice, the beautiful city of water—landscapes that represent their countries, along with red scooters in alleyways, blue-tiled walls, yellow doors, and flowers on terraces. Europe's romantic mood stirs our emotions. What would it be like to discover hidden gem-like backstreets in Paris, stroll Lisbon's colorful tiled streets, or drift along Venice's canals? Charles and Elin, authors from France and Sweden, traveled around Europe with their embroidery and selected 20 special places inspired by its streets and history, capturing them in embroidered works. This updated-cover edition uses Notre-Dame Cathedral, the cover of the original and a symbol of French romance, to express more faithfully the book's concept of embroidering European streets. The designs capture real European streets, and the works use color as an accent. This new style of embroidery, unlike anything previously seen, caught people's attention and became popular as soon as it appeared in the embroidery community. The authors were featured in Martha Stewart Living, My Modern Met, and other publications. Charles and Elin continue to create work, building an embroidery community and connecting with people who love the craft. This book includes designs for 20 scenes from seven countries, with clear instructions. Every project can be completed using just five basic stitches; it is fascinating to see how the authors use simple stitches to create such varied and colorful effects.
