Through this book, I learned about the Yellow Vest movement that began in France in November 2018. I learned that Macron's fuel-tax increase was the direct cause. The movement also helped me understand the contradictions in society and the limitations of capitalism, neoliberalism, and existing social-contract theory. I also felt the need for solidarity to improve these things. I recommend this book because it shows us a way for society to move in a better direction~!
If a problem arises in the framework of producers—the lowest but most fundamental level of an ecosystem—and that framework breaks down, the total collapse of the ecosystem is only natural. In the social structure in which we live, if the working class and ordinary people, who form society's foundation, suffer a major blow, there is a serious risk that it will lead directly to the collapse of society and the entire nation. The Yellow Vest movement, a large-scale protest that took place in France
Charles de Bellen: Yellow Vest Movement
'Reconsidering the possibility of a social contract for our time.' In an era and society where crisis has become everyday life rather than safety, are we really living well? The Yellow Vest movement became known in France in November 2018, when many protesters wore highly visible yellow vests. It is a new form of social contract that emerged in this age of discontent. This book was published to examine the movement's significance in earnest and to help us find the strength to bring about modest changes in Korean society. On the surface, the Yellow Vest movement is defined as protests sparked by the fuel-tax increase introduced by the Macron government. In fact, however, it cannot simply be defined as an organized labor movement, a revolution, or a protest aimed at achieving political goals. Rather, readers will quickly understand through this book that it may become a new form of modern movement and raises questions about the foundations of France's political order.
